WILLIAM DILLA-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--5.5 X 15-GLOSS WHITE-MUSIC CITY ASHEVILLE....

Huge Thank You going out to Bill Dilla for picking up a 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 15 from Music City Asheville. He recently had a lesson with Todd Sucherman in his home studio and he saw one there. Glad there was one still available for you Bill. I don't do a lot in Gloss White, and they have been really popular. It was great to hear how much you are enjoying that drum...And will look forward to staying in touch with you. The pics you did are excellent as well. Thanks Again for everything, and Thank You Todd Sucherman as always. Also a big Thanks to Jerry Lyda at Music City Asheville for carrying my gear....

"Just arrived! Beier 5.5 x 15 white snare drum. It sounds just as amazing as it looks! Looks like I will be spending all day at the kit playing this beauty!"

"Absolutely love this Beier snare!"

ABOUT NEWS UPDATES...BEIER DRUMS....

I just wanted to add a note in my News here. All of you take time out for me, send me pics, keep me updated, forward the latest video, and are so supportive of Beier Drums...It really floors me. I cannot explain how much everything means to me.

This month and last I have, for the first time, fallen behind about a month in updating this section. Right now there is so much material, I am catching up...but am still out about 2-3 weeks. Just wanted to relate that I take the earliest News, and then progress to the latest. Sometimes I will be posting an earlier item, and something new will pop up from the same player and will of course tie that in right away. But I always have, and will, post in order of receiving. Right now I am at the first week of March for posting material that has come in here.

OK. That is off my chest. That has been bothering me every day for the last two weeks! Thank You All....

NASHVILLE'S CHRISTOPHER WILLIAMS OF ACCEPT....JARRED POPE'S BEIER 1.5 STEEL--6.5 X 14....

I get a lot of correspondence and read posts of comments on my drums these day's...And I truly love that. Christopher Williams of Accept left one recently that I so appreciated, and just had to acknowledge here. He sat down with Jarred Pope's 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14 which I really thought was great. Jarred just recorded a live record with The Damon Johnson Band last weekend with that drum, and will also be taking it on the 2016 Thompson Square Tour. I will be posting on that in the next week. (I am incredibly behind on my News, but am catching up!)

I always enjoy reading Christopher's posts, and what he is up to. Great drummers are always into something, and he is just always lit up. Whether it is a new set of cymbals, accessory, an upcoming show...There is always something. He is also a great communicator, and widely known as a super nice guy to deal with. Link below for tour dates for Accept, and for a truly excellent interview he did with Metal Shock Finland.

Looking forward to seeing you live Christopher and talking drums soon. Thanks Again for taking time out to sit down with one of my drums, and for your comment..

"I had the chance to sit in and play Jarred Pope's snare a few nights ago. It sounds beautiful! Great work!"

RICK SMITH-CONNECTICUT DRUM SHOW-BEIER DRUMS...

A big Thanks going out to Rick Smith for his recent comments on Beier Drums. His
"Connecticut Vintage & Custom Drum Show" has been extremely successful since the start, and it always get's rave reviews from literally everyone. The 2016 show is on April 17th. Link below for details.

Thanks Again Rick for taking time out to comment on my drums...That was great of you to do. I wish I could come out this year for the show, but cannot. Next year, well...I am planning on it already...!

"Hi Jim. Kudos on making some very nice snare drums! I have seen them at Drum Center Of Portsmouth, and Steve Maxwell's. The sound samples I've heard are great, they have that nice thick metal sound..."

SAM LUMSDEN-TULLOCH CASTLE-HIGHLANDS OF SCOTLAND-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--5.5 X 14....

Sam Lumsden recently had a gig in a haunted castle in Dingwall, Highlands of Scotland: Tulloch Castle. The present structure dates to the 16th century, and the history of the castle dates back as far as the 12th century when the Bains, and later the Clan Davidson laid claims to the land.

As always, he had his 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14 with him. Sam keeps an extremely busy schedule teaching at his school (First Class Drums), and with live performance. He has used a 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14 as his main for a number of years, and in numerous settings. That also includes the latest record from Sharky Sharky which I tremendously appreciated. He also has a 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 15 that he has used as well. Interesting as well...he is yet another player who is using Aquarian Heads these days. The Vintage Series in particular I hear about from players all of the time-Sam included. Last month I sent out four drums with their White Texture Coated & Classic Clear Bottom Heads. I have to say, I am a life-long Remo supporter. But....These heads are extremely impressive, and the quality of them is far and beyond anything I have used in the industry. The batter heads are a 10 mil head, and they produce a very natural and open sound. The snare side heads are 3 mil.

Thanks Again my friend for these pics. Have enjoyed our discussions lately and always value your thoughts a great deal. I have a handful of people that I go to for serious advice, and your one of them. You always seem to make perfect sense to me. Gotta tell you...These pics are incredible! Thanks as well to Graham Mackenzie Photography for permission to use these images....

PAT McDONALD-CHARLIE DANIELS BAND-MODERN DRUMMER-MAY 2016

Pat McDonald has a nice feature on him coming out in Modern Drummer in the May issue, and is mentioned on the cover as well. I am so looking forward to getting this and reading it, and was so happy about this. Congrats as well to H. Aaron Strickland on your writing, and Joey Tanner for your photography.

My business has put me in a variety of musical settings, and has taken me a lot of places. From players in all styles of music, from tech's, to FOH engineers, to seemingly everyone no matter where I am at....His name brings a huge Thumbs Up from everyone. Monte Yoho & David Dix of The Outlaws know him well as The Outlaws did a lot of shows with Charlie Daniels over the years. They both told me years ago that "Pat McDonald is one the finest drummers....Anywhere". They both just love watching him play. Michael Foster and Bill Leverty of Firehouse knew him in the early years in Florida, and both were totally blown away. Michael told me he told him he was way too good to be there, and needed to go to Nashville. And Bill followed with that he was probably working the minute he parked his car in Nashville. Michael Grando from Joe Diffie's band said the same thing to me...The guy is amazing. I had a tech message me one night...he was filling in at a venue. He opened Pat's cases and saw two of my snare drums. He had never seen him live before. And of course, he was floored after the show. Everyone...No matter where you are....Has the same thing to say: This guy is a Maestro.

I have had the good fortune to have Pat playing my gear for some time now. He uses a 6.5 x 14 as his main, and also has a 5.5 x 14 as an auxiliary, which he has also used as a main as well. He also has a 4 x 15 which he has used live. The only snare drums he tours with are mine, and he truly loves playing them. He has said to me on several occasions: "The only snare drums up on that riser are yours..."

Thank You Pat McDonald For Everything...See you this Summer....

"Drummers....You ever have one of those nights where your whole kit just sounded amazing because your snare drum was just PERFECT? Fat, crisp, clean and the absolute picture of what a snare is supposed to sound like inside your drum kit? Yeah, once again, James Beier's handiwork reigns supreme, and my 6.5 x 14 Beier Snare felt, played and sounded like diamonds covered in gold raining from the sky. That happens a lot lately. Jim, you are a master. No lie. Thanks for another dose of inspiration my friend!"

ELLIOTT PAULIN-LIVE WITH REBEL GRACE-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--5.5 X 14....

Recently received a great shot of Elliott Paulin (Dustin Lynch, Jared Ashley, Suzi Orevic, Clay Underwood) live with his 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14. Elliott is a seasoned Nashville veteran who is based out of Milwaukee now, and he has been using this drum for two years. He is behind the kit for arguably one of the best bands in the region: Rebel Grace. Had a great discussion with him the last time I saw him, and he is extremely knowledgeable & skilled in virtually all aspects of drumming.

Looking forward to seeing you soon Elliott, and Thanks Again for always having that drum with you. As well...Thank You to Photography By Ryan for permission to use this photo. Great shot Ryan!

DRUM CENTER OF PORTSMOUTH-NEW ARRIVAL-1.5 STEEL--6.5 X 14.....

Drum Center Of Portsmouth just received another 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14. This is the second one they have received in the last several month's. Was very happy the last one went to Nathaniel Dobas to use in the Warner Stage Company's production of Rock Of Ages in February.

This size of the 1.5 Steel Series has been incredibly popular. It is currently on the road with Pat McDonald of The Charlie Daniels Band, Andy Parker of UFO, Jules Radino of Blue Oyster Cult, Mel Watts on the BJ Thomas Tour, Jarred Pope of Thompson Square, Trent Anderson with his show band Sushi Roll Band, Artimus Pyle with the Artimus Pyle Band, Steven Sweet of Warrant, Frank Vilardi of the Bacon Brothers, Monte Yoho of The Outlaws & Blackhawk, Rodger Carter on the current John 5 Tour, & Mark Ortmann with the Bottle Rockets. The drum has also been used live by Frankie Banali of Quiet Riot, Drew McKeon with Michael Bolton, Don Brewer on a tour with Grand Funk Railroad, Achim Faerber extensively across Europe with Project Pitchfork, Brit Turner with Blackberry Smoke, & Simon Wright of Operation Mindcrime. Brad Elvis of The Romantics & The Handcuffs will be using his brand new one live this Summer on dates as well. It is also always in use in studios, has appeared on a number of important records, & I just received some outstanding new tracks that will be released with David Northrup using his.

Thank You Drum Center Of Portsmouth.....It is always great to have my drums in the store....

"Very impressed by this new Beier Drums 14 x 6.5 Steel!"

BOBBY BLAIR-LAS VEGAS-LIVE WITH BARRETT BABER AT THE HARD ROCK CASINO-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--6.5 X 15....

Bobby Blair just recently finished a three week stint at the Hard Rock Casino playing with Barrett Baber. They were opening up for Rascal Flatts. He had dropped me a line and said he was having one of the two drums he picked up from Forks Drum Closet sent out there. Bobby has a 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 15 and 8 x 15, and absolutely is thrilled with both of them. He chose the 6.5 x 15, the shows went great, and the pics he sent me were hugely appreciated here. That drum, as well as the 8 x 15, he has used live with Love & Theft which he is also the touring drummer for.

The 8 x 15 also has an engraved plaque which I added at his request: "Serenity-11/3/2014". He received the drum in the Fall of 2015 and wanted to celebrate his 1 Year Anniversary in recovery and sobriety. Have said it several times before, but things like this are worth saying over and over: Congratulations. Just one person doing this, like yourself, can inspire countless others to conquer a very, very common problem and struggle for many in our society. No doubt there are a lot of people that are very proud of you, with your Mom being at the top of that list.

Check the links out below for dates for Barrett Baber & Love & Theft to see Bobby play live. Thanks Again for using my gear Bobby...Hope to see you soon in this area.

MEL WATTS-LIVE WITH BJ THOMAS-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--6.5 X 14....

Mel Watts is out on the road with BJ Thomas & his new 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14. It is so great to see him with this drum. He initially played one in the same size in Nashville in a session. That drum he had borrowed from David Northrup-(Thank You David). This drum as well I did with Tube Lugs, and have done that quite a few times actually. The drum retains all of it's qualities, and I am a long time fan of them as well.

His career is extensive, incredible, and musically diverse. He was the long time drummer for The Little River Band, and has recorded and/or played live with Andy Griggs, Del Shannon, Deana Carter, Leslie Gore, Hank Williams Jr., Garth Brooks (Scarecrow) & Exile to name a few. He has also appeared on Late Night With David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and many others. He has been the drummer for BJ Thomas for some time now, and has been using the drum since Day 1 that he got one. That included a performance recently at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Van Wert, Ohio with a 46 piece orchestra.

Due to a snowstorm, I could not attend the show in Chicago several months ago. That was a real disappointment here! Very much looking forward to when this show comes around again. Thanks for all of the clips you sent Mel, your feedback on the drum, and for taking it out on the road with you. Cannot tell you how much I appreciate that. Looking forward to meeting you and seeing you live soon~

BOBBY MACINTYRE OF STUDIO 71-SIMON KIRKE OF BAD COMPANY-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--5.5 X 15......

Bobby Macintyre of Studio 71 recently sent me a couple of pics which were just great. Simon Kirke of Bad Company stopped over to his studio several weeks ago, and Bobby was nice enough to have him sit down and give his 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 15 a whirl. As a long-time die hard Bad Company fan...Still today...These were unreal. I guess as well he is one incredibly nice guy also. Will look forward to the updates when he stops back soon.

Bobby also has a 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 15 at the studio, and uses both regularly. He is one of these guys I am always really anxious to see what he is up to. He is doing so much, is so eclectic, so involved, so skilled, & so intent on creating something real...It truly is remarkable. He is a long time touring and recording professional with credits that are too extensive to list right now. He is also one of the coolest drummers I have gotten to know this last year as well.

Thanks Again Bobby Macintyre...Your great...

"A true gentleman no doubt. He has always been one of my favorite drummers, and his Rock-N-Roll feel behind the kit is unmatched"

Bobby Macintyre on meeting Simon Kirke

NASHVILLE: DAVID NORTHRUP BACK IN THE STUDIO-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--4 X 15...

Nashville legend, session drummer, producer, international educator, and all-around good guy, David Northrup, was back in the studio in Nashville several weeks ago. This time he had his Beier 1.5 Steel--4 x 15. I was very, very happy to see this. He has had one since the end of December 2015 when he first used one for the Oak Ridge Boys Christmas Show.

I am also working on a drum here which will be something new. David is great about sitting down and discussing drums, and he has an encyclopedic knowledge of them from first-hand experience. We had a great discussion, and one of the things we talked about were auxiliary drums. Generally speaking, I don't think they are as popular as they were. However, they are still out there in large numbers and in use. This drum will be a 5.5 x 12. This particular one will have Tube Lugs, and the drum most likely will be a permanent addition to the 1.5 Steel Series. The drum will come out the Spring, and I am really looking forward to putting it out there with David for a test.

Thanks Again David Northrup. Your someone who has always taken time out for Beier Drums, and I appreciate it....Always.
