TROY FREUND-ALUMNI BAND NIGHT-2018-MAYVILLE, WISCONSIN-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--5.5 X 14....

Long time pal, and hands down one of the most talented full-time professional photographers I know, Troy Freund, recently popped up in a pic with his Beier 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14. He has had this drum for years, was one of my early customers, has always been a huge supporter of Beier Drums, has been an incredible friend, and has taken some of the best images ever of my drums.

Troy used the drum at the Alumni Band Night this year, and last year in Mayville for their Alumni Band Night. He uses the drum regularly, and the image below of the 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14 that he took, is an image that is timeless here. He also did the image of an earlier 2.0 Brass--6 x 14 that I offered (Pic Below), and has used my drums and myself in his promotional material.

Thank You Troy...It is always wonderful to hear from you, and really am happy we have stayed in touch over the years. I hope I can attend and participate in the lecture series next time, that would be a LOT of fun to do, and really regret missing it. But to honor my Hoosier roots, and my love of growing up in Indiana...Everything here has plum gone hog wild, and just could not do it.

See you soon my friend....

MODERN DRUMMER PODCAST WITH MIKE AND MIKE-JANUARY 2017-EPISODE 123-THE 2017 WRAP UP SHOW-MIKE DAWSON COMMENTS ON THE LINE OF BEIER 1.5 STEEL 15" SERIES...

Once again this month...I want to send out a Thank You to Mike Dawson for the mention in Episode 123, The 2017 Wrap Up Show, on the Modern Drummer Podcast. I listen to this podcast regularly which has a huge following. Mike Dawson & Mike Johnston have always done a knockout job with this...It is academic in it's approach, pointedly informative, and entertaining as well-These guy's crack me up....They are VERY funny. Perfect balance of everything. Both of these guy's are the pinnacle of professionalism, and to be mentioned on their podcast is something very special. Thanks going out to Lucas Farran for your comments on the Podcast and my drums. Great to make your acquaintance!

Thanks Again Mike for your comments on my efforts to bring the 15" snare drum back to this industry. That is part of what I set out to do...Bring out an original, identifiable & consistent sound, and offer it to drummers everywhere. There are hundreds of  my 15" drums out on the music scene now, on tour, in studios, and on records. My attitude is is that when I finish a drum, and ship it out, I have done my best. The evaluation and thoughts on them, I leave to drummers. I am not a promoter, and have never been a good "Closer". That is of little to no interest to me. What I am interested in is when a drummer texts me from a tiny bar in the middle of Missouri to tell me his 1.5 Steel--4 x 15 is lighting him, and the band up. That....Is what music was intended to be. That....Is what I set out to do.

Being in any aspect of the music business is probably the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. It is difficult for everyone...No matter what part of it you are involved in. And if your truly making your drums and shells, it is compounded greatly.  But despite the nature of this business, it is the most rewarding and incredible thing I have ever done. And...I am just getting started.....

CHAD MELCHERT-GORD BAMFORD-NEON SMOKE TOUR-JANUARY 2018...BEIER 1.5 STEEL--7.5 X 15...

Chad Melchert is the consummate pro, supporter, gentleman, & friend. He is also one of the most admired & respected drummers in Canada. I have been lucky enough that he connected with my gear several years ago, and he has used all three of his snare drums live and in the studio from Beier Drums non-stop since then.

Chad currently has a 1.5 Steel--4 x 15, 6.5 x 14 & most recently a 7.5 x 15. He will be heading out the end of January with Gord Bamford on the Neon Smoke Tour 2018, and will have his 1.5 Steel--7.5 x 15 with him for that. That drum will also be heading to Australia with him in Spring for their Australian Tour.

Thanks Again Chad Melchert! Really looking forward to your feedback from the tour this month with the drum....

TODD SUCHERMAN IN HIS STUDIO...FINALLY GEORGE PROJECT...GERMANY...BEIER 1.5 STEEL--5.5 X 15....

One of the world's greatest drummers, Todd Sucherman, recently released a preview of a song he is working on for a Germany based artist...Finally George. This record will be released this Spring, and I will be picking it up the second it is out! Todd was kind enough to use his 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 15 on the chorus section of this tune, and when artists include my gear in their work....That is as good as it get's for a drumsmith like myself.

I can remember making this drum, and it is now in the hands of one of the most respected and admired drummers in the business. I have known Todd for a long time now, and he unfailingly, like all top-tier pro's, is full of enthusiasm, respect, positive energy, and has time for everyone.

Thank You Again Todd....Very much looking forward to this...Look forward to seeing you soon....

MODERN DRUMMER-FEBRUARY 2018-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--6.5 X 15 & 7.5 X 15.....

The article in Modern Drummer on the Beier 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 15 & 7.5 x 15 in the February 2018 is out, and I just could not be more delighted with it. This is a follow up to the article in the February 2016 issue on the Beier 1.5 Steel--4 x 15 & 5.5 x 15.

Mike Dawson is, as I have said before, one of the great players on the scene today, and is also the quintessential journalist of this business. And quite literally...Everyone and anyone you will talk to would agree. He is a massive talent, unbelievably inquisitive, is extremely detailed, and truly get's to the heart of what drum he is using, and the music he is playing with it. He is a master at timely communication, and again....As anyone & everyone would say...Is someone who is held in high esteem as a person.

I set out to bring the 15" snare drum back to this industry, and it really is an incredible honor to have them featured in two issues of Modern Drummer...THE magazine of this business. Thank You Mike Dawson For Everything....

WARRANT LIVE IN MILWAUKEE...STEVEN SWEET....

I have been a huge fan of Warrant since their beginning, and this band today is as rockin as they always have been. I have been waiting for them to come around, and finally got to see Steven Sweet live with them again.

It has been several years since I have seen Steven. Michael Foster of Firehouse introduced me to him, & told me years ago he was one of the nicest guy's in Rock, and that is exactly what he is. He also is one of Rock's great drummers, and always has been. He is someone who has always been incredibly nice to me, and it is always a lot of fun catching up when I see him.

This band is like many from that era, in some way's they are better than they ever were....And they were great to begin with. Their latest release: Louder-Harder-Faster is an amazing full out Hard Rock record in the vein of the way records used to sound. Literally, every single song is a knockout. The songs performed live from it at the show were as well. This record to me, and to the reviews that you will read...Is a record to be proud of, and honors this band perfectly. Robert Mason is so perfect for this band, I don't see him as a replacement. He is an incredible asset, musician, and is also a helluva nice guy.

Steven has toured with a 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14 for the last three years, and also has one of the first 1.5 Steel--8 x 15's I produced. Primarily he uses the 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14 on the road, and that is true source of pride here at Beier Drums.

Thank You Again Steven for using my gear, mentioning me on the album sleeve, giving me a copy of this record in CD, your friendship & support, ticket, and for dinner. This show was a huge hit with everyone there, and hope to see you and the band soon....

LATEST NEWS RESUMES.....

The Latest News is resuming this month. It will include a full recap from the end of November to the end of the year. This was an incredibly busy time here, and definitely was one of the best end of the year runs I have ever had.

I have been getting a lot of questions on what, if anything, is new for this year with Beier Drums. The answer is is that several new sizes that are being completed to finish out a line. There will be a 1.5 Steel--4 x 13, & 7.5 x 13. Everything else will remain the same as always.

The 1.5 Steel Series was intended to be a mainstay, and a line of drums that will remain unchanged. They have gone over extraordinarily well, and are used worldwide in basements, clubs, arenas, and stadiums. I have never been concerned about the next big thing, the latest trend, collaborations to copy original designs, obsessive marketing, advertising, and cloning other drum makers products. While that is common in today's world in almost all businesses, that has never been my path. Nothing forward comes of that.

I set out to get into players ears, and not their wallets. This is a business, but it is Music. That means something a little different when your talking about a "Product" & "Business". If your just making things to sell, or in most cases importing, your selling yourself, and the player short I think in a lot of ways. As an analogy...We all know what happens when a band has gone into the studio to make a record to "Sell". There are many legendary disasters from those journey's. Spending your time putting something meaningful and honest into the world results in business taking care of itself-Every single time.

The journey continues into 2018....
